Pilates Ball

Small Ball. Serious Results.

Don’t let the size fool you.

This small Pilates ball is one of the most effective tools for isolating muscles and building genuine core strength at home.

Unlike large gym balls designed for sitting or bouncing, this mini yoga ball is designed to be squeezed. Place it between your knees during bridges. Grip it between your ankles during leg lifts. Position it under your lower back during crunches.

The soft, tactile surface creates instability, forcing your inner thighs, deep abdominals, and pelvic floor to engage instantly.

One small prop. Completely transformed workouts.

Why This Soft Pilates Ball Works So Well

Activates Muscles You Can’t Reach Otherwise

Standard mat exercises work the large, obvious muscles. But the deep stabilisers – the ones that protect your spine and support your pelvis – often stay dormant.

This soft Pilates ball changes that.

When you squeeze the ball, you create resistance. When you balance against it, you create instability. Both force those hidden muscles to switch on and work.

The result? Stronger core, better posture, improved stability – all from adding one simple prop to exercises you already do.

The Perfect Softness

This isn’t a hard, bouncy ball. It’s deliberately soft and slightly squishy.

Why does this matter?

  • Better grip – The ball stays in position between knees or ankles
  • More comfort – Gentle against your back and joints
  • Greater control – You can squeeze it without it shooting away
  • Ideal resistance – Firm enough to work against, soft enough to hold

We recommend inflating to approximately 80% capacity for the best combination of grip and resistance.

Anti-Slip Surface

The textured PVC surface grips your skin and clothing, keeping the ball exactly where you place it. No slipping, no adjusting, no interruptions to your flow.

Who Uses This Small Pilates Ball?

Pilates Practitioners

This is the standard 25cm exercise ball used in Pilates classes across the UK.

Place it under your sacrum (lower back) during ab work to support your spine whilst intensifying the exercise. Squeeze it between your ankles during The Hundred to fire up your inner thighs. Position it behind your knee during single-leg stretches to deepen the activation.

Classic Pilates moves become significantly more challenging – and more effective.

Physiotherapy Patients

Widely recommended by NHS physiotherapists and private practitioners, this small physio ball is essential for rehabilitation work.

It’s particularly effective for:

  • Knee strengthening – Squeezing the ball between knees rebuilds quadricep strength
  • Pelvic floor exercises – Inner thigh squeezes automatically engage pelvic floor muscles
  • Rotator cuff stability – Gentle pressing movements restore shoulder function
  • Lower back rehabilitation – Supported positions allow pain-free core activation
  • Post-surgery recovery – Low-impact exercises that rebuild strength safely

The controlled instability helps rebuild small stabiliser muscles that protect joints after injury.

Barre and Ballet Enthusiasts

This barre ball adds resistance and balance challenges to traditional barre movements.

Squeeze it between thighs during pliés. Hold it during relevés for added core engagement. Use it during floor work to intensify inner thigh exercises.

All the sculpting benefits of barre class, enhanced with one simple prop.

Yoga Practitioners

Add new dimensions to your practice with this mini yoga ball.

Use it to deepen hip-opening poses. Place it under your sacrum during supported bridge. Hold it between palms during balance work for added focus and stability.

The soft texture won’t interrupt your flow or distract from your practice.

Pelvic Floor Training

One of the most effective uses for this ball is pelvic floor strengthening.

The simple act of squeezing the ball between your thighs automatically engages pelvic floor muscles. This makes exercises more effective for:

  • Postnatal recovery
  • Preventing incontinence
  • Core restoration after pregnancy
  • General pelvic floor maintenance

Many UK physiotherapists specifically recommend this type of soft Pilates ball for pelvic floor programmes.

Simple Exercises to Get Started

Inner Thigh Squeeze

Lie on your back with knees bent, feet flat on the floor. Place the small Pilates ball between your knees. Squeeze firmly and hold for 5 seconds, then release. Repeat 15 times.

This targets inner thighs and automatically engages pelvic floor muscles.

Supported Ab Curl

Place the ball under your lower back (sacrum area). Perform gentle crunches with your spine supported by the ball. The cushioning protects your back whilst the instability increases core activation.

Hamstring Curl

Lie face down. Place the ball between your heel and glute on one leg. Squeeze to hold the ball in place, then lift the entire leg slightly off the floor. Hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each side.

Bridge Squeeze

Lie on your back with knees bent. Place the ball between your knees. Lift into a bridge position whilst squeezing the ball firmly. Hold at the top for 5 seconds before lowering.

How to Inflate Your Mini Ball

No pump needed. Inflation takes seconds.

Step 1: Remove the white plug from the ball.

Step 2: Insert the included inflation straw into the hole.

Step 3: Blow into the straw (takes 2-3 breaths).

Step 4: Quickly remove the straw and replace the plug.

Recommended firmness: Inflate to approximately 80% capacity. The ball should feel soft and slightly squishy – firm enough to provide resistance, soft enough to grip comfortably.

A fully inflated, rock-hard ball is actually less effective and harder to use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this ball supposed to be soft?

Yes. A soft Pilates ball should not feel rock-hard like a football. It should be slightly squishy (approximately 80% inflated) so you can grip it comfortably between your knees, ankles, or hands without it rolling away. The softness is intentional and makes the ball more effective.

How do I inflate it without a pump?

Simply use the included straw. Remove the white plug, insert the straw, blow into it (2-3 breaths), then quickly replace the plug. The entire process takes less than 30 seconds.

Is this good for physiotherapy?

Absolutely. This small physio ball is widely used by physiotherapists for rehabilitation work. It's particularly effective for knee strengthening, pelvic floor exercises, rotator cuff stability, and rebuilding stabiliser muscles after injury.

What size is this ball when inflated?

The 25cm exercise ball measures approximately 25cm (9 inches) in diameter when properly inflated. This is the standard size used in Pilates studios and physiotherapy clinics across the UK.

Can I use this for pelvic floor exercises?

Yes – this is one of the best uses for this ball. Squeezing the ball between your thighs automatically engages pelvic floor muscles, making exercises more effective. Many physiotherapists recommend this type of ball specifically for pelvic floor strengthening programmes.

Is this suitable for barre workouts?

Yes. This barre ball adds resistance and challenge to traditional barre movements. Squeeze it during pliés, hold it during balance work, or use it during floor exercises to intensify inner thigh sculpting.

How firm should the ball be?

We recommend approximately 80% inflation. The ball should feel soft enough to squeeze comfortably but firm enough to provide resistance. If it feels too hard, release a small amount of air.

  1. elaineb

Brill sturdy ball used for my physio

  2. JuliaC

This Pilates ball is good for getting the most out of your workout. It comes deflated but is easy to blow up. You need to keep it a bit floppy though and not to put too much air in. Great for lower back. Good quality and a fair price.

  3. Jonathan Bourget-Murray

I was worried I would have to buy a pump to inflate this, but it comes with an easy tool to inflate it yourself (a straw that you blow through) and a plug that has stayed in place well (you also get a few extra plugs, just in case). I have rolled around on this regularly, and it has stood up to use well.

  4. Biff

Supplied with two inflation tubes and two bungs. Quick and easy to inflate, soft pliable pilates ball. Anti slip material that is comfortable to hold in one hand. The Romix logo is a mirror image, not that it matters but does seem strange.

  5. bobo

Bought this ball for the exercises needed to be done after my knee replacement. It was fantastic and a great help with the post op exercises. Really good buy.

Really useful to do your exercises with this palates ball

  11. Afua Duana Ampah

Sturdy ball and easy to blow up. Only took seconds and the ball was ready to go. Can definitely confirm that this is an anti burst ball because when it’s not used for sports my little one who is 14 months uses and abuses it as well as chomps and throws himself on it. It does not even have the slightest scratch to it. Love that you can pick different colours and the purple I chose is exactly as in the pictures. The air stays sealed in the ball and doesn’t deflate for ages.

  12. mr.donald c bell

Just the size easy to blow up thank you

  13. Rebecca Golder

  16. Bucks

Inflating can be a problem as that as soon as you remove the straw; the ball starts to deflate. Hence only 3 stars, since then worked out what works. Good value and comfortable between to use

  17. chezfavi

Easy to inflate, seems very sturdy and came with extra tools should you need to inflate it again or replace the pin. Great value for money.

  21. Cathy Hunt

    Good ball for Pilates

  22. Cynthia Dunn

It’s a bit difficult to inflate as you can’t hold the air in you have to be quick to put in plug. It’s doing the job I got it for and using it as part of my physiotherapy after hip surgery

  23. Rebecca Golder

This ideal for exercise. Easy to inflate. Very soft. This has multiple uses and will help with pain and also fitness.

  24. jj_506

Superb. I was surprised how robust this is especially as you inflate orally. But great product. Very strong and perfect for daily use.

  25. Eva Hamilton

Same as the one I used in my pilates class – lovely quality, very happy!

  26. Rebecca Golder

  30. Hannah Johnstone

I have had this for over a month now and I use it regularly for Pilates. It’s very easy to inflate/deflate as needed, it’s sturdy and the material is easy to grip. I would recommend.

  31. Lerica

Bought for physiotherapy exercises. Easy to inflate and use on a daily basis.

  32. César Alegria

    Sturdy pilates small ball

  33. Senorita

A good quality and sturdy small ball perfect for my needs. I have weak knees and also suffer from back pain, and was advised by my physiotherapist to do some resistance exercises using a small ball.I was sceptical at first since I have only used a big fitness ball before, but surprisingly, it’s actually great for strengthening my core as well as for toning my legs. This beautiful striking purple coloured ball is smooth to touch, easy to clean and very firm. It can withstand my weight (I’m not a skinny lady!) for a long time without any signs of deflation. Even though I can use the supplied tube to inflate the ball, I use a ball pump instead as it’s easier and faster. It needs to be under-inflated in use, so it should not be pumped too hard.Priced at £5.99 (at the time of writing), seems like a fair price to pay for a good quality and sturdy small ball.In short, I’m very pleased with this ball and it’s an easy recommendation from me.

  34. foxcylady

Well priced, well made, bright, easy to inflate and does as exactly what it promises.Bright purple and soft and easy to use….mine had just died and when this appeared on my vine I was most excited. This is a another level compared to my very old one which cost somewhat more than this.Great for resistance training, balance and relaxation…..a great addition to your routine whatever you might do.

  35. janet

It was for my sister for exercise. Does the job it’s intended. Easy to handle.

  36. judy Mace

Great, easy to inflate, worth the money

  37. Amazon Customer

Bought to put in curve of my back when sitting but it’s too big for that job.

  38. JenPen

Way to inflate, good quality and does the job. Has held my weight so far 🙂

  39. Dollypops

I can’t help wondering if the product that I received is a second, given that the Romix logo on the ball is back to front (see picture) but this aside, what’s good about this exercise ball is the fact that, deflated and folded, it’s very compact which makes it suitable for travelling. It’s easy to inflate with the straw provided. Plus there’s a spare. But I’ve struggled to inflate it fully as some of the air escapes between removing the straw and inserting the plug. There’s also a tool which is needed to remove the plug. Nice colour (purple) and texture, and a good option for Pilates and balance exercises.

  40. MrsDuke

Easy to inflate and good value for money

  41. Tim C

My Pilates teacher asked me to get this soft ball as she is going to introduce new exercises in to our Pilates Zoom classes using this equipment. This one is strong and you can make it softer by just putting less air in it. It’s just as advertised so a good piece of exercise equipment taking up very little room but you can certainly do a lot of exercises using this Trideer soft ball.

  42. amz customer

Really useful to do your exercises with this palates ball

  43. JCYT

Will be interesting to see how it works in my Pilates class

Great for the price, but when you blow it up make sure that you leave it a day and add more air to make sure it is really firm.
